Emergency School Closing

Cancellation of school takes place only during circumstances such as extreme weather, equipment failure, or public crisis. The school board and administrators are aware of the hardship which can be caused by an abrupt cancellation. Therefore, school will not be cancelled unless a significant safety risk has been created by unusual circumstances.

Every practical means is used to notify parents of a cancellation, including radio, television, and district phone chain. In the unusual circumstance where school must be cancelled during the school day, the key room parent for each room calls to notify parents of the early closing and reports to the office the status of all students in an attempt to have satisfactory supervision when students are transported back to their homes.
